Athlete Controllers

As usual, we will require parents to act as Athlete Controllers (which is similar to centre age managers) at the State Multi-Event.  There will be up to two (2) Athlete Controllers per age group and gender (eg. Under 9 Boys Blue, Under 9 Girls Pink, Under 10 Boys Silver etc).  Click HERE to access the Athlete Controller memo.  Groups without Athlete Controllers (Parent helpers) will not be permitted to leave the Meeting Point areas if they don't have an Athlete Controller.  If you are able to assist, please contact Diane Levy via email This email address is being protected from spambots. LANSW State Team

Three boys and three girls from the U15 age group will be selected from their performances at the State Multi-Event Championships, to compete in the Australian Little Athletics Championships, which is held on the weekend nearest to Anzac Day each year.  These athletes will be selected based on their performances in the events which make up the ALAC Multi-Event competition.  Each year the Australian Little Athletics Championships is hosted by a different State/Territory Association. In 2017 the event will be hosted by LANSW.  The event will be held as a two-day event for the first time on Saturday and Sunday, 22 & 23 April 2017 at SOPAC.

Family, Fun & Fitness

Little Athletics  is a uniquely Australian sport for children aged 5-16 years. It is based upon the sport of athletics (track and field) and the events are specially modified to suit the ages and abilities of children. A wide range of running, jumping, throwing and walking events is conducted.

Little Athletics recognises that children vary widely in shape, size and athletic ability, and is thus one of few sports that successfully caters for them all.

It's not really about winning, but about having fun, making friends and getting families involved in healthy activities. The emphasis is placed on participation and personal improvement. It is little surprise then, that the motto of Little Athletics is: "Family, Fun and Fitness".
